Government of Andhra Pradesh established Smart Andhra Pradesh Foundation to play a proactive facilitation and advocacy role in achieving the goals of the “Smart Village Smart Ward programme” and to facilitate the different stakeholders for synergizing efforts, resources, skills and knowledge towards achieving the vision of Smart Village - Smart Ward towards Smart Andhra Pradesh. The foundation aims at an inclusive, sustainable growth of the state with the idea of promoting the happiness and wellness of its people.

On 7th January 2016, orders vide G.O.Ms. No.1, Planning (VII) Department, were issued to establish the ‘Smart Andhra Pradesh Foundation’. The Foundation was registered as a Society under Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 2001, on 23rd January 2016.

The aims and objectives of the foundation are:

  1. To act as a State Level agency for facilitating, networking and advocacy of “Smart Village - Smart Ward” programme at sub district, district and State levels. Amongst the above, the specific objectives are as follows:

    1. To promote ‘Brand Andhra Pradesh’ with a focus on inclusive & faster growth and sustainable development
    2. To network and engage with various individuals, institutions, institutional donors, CSR related & other foundations and other resource agencies for knowledge sharing, support services and resource mobilisation
    3. To mobilise and channelize resources (or mobilise investments) from various quarters and establish funds
    4. To undertake activities for promotion of philanthropic activities in the state
    5. Be responsible for reporting to donors, government and for statutory compliances
  2. To undertake capacity building of partners in developing community driven development plans & their implementation based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) specifically devised for the program

  3. To act as a think tank and conduct action research to help translate program goals, objectives and policy priorities into tangible reform action plans for implementation of the program at the village/ward levels

  4. Serve as a knowledge resource agency and document best practices and innovations across the state/outside the state and their effective dissemination through various communication channels, including social media for their scale-up and replication.

  5. To undertake the 20 non-negotiable development commitments towards achieving UNSDGs.
